You can learn more facts and information and find images at WE.org/wearerafikis. To embellish your poster find colorful pictures, fast facts, map of Somalia, Africa, $10.00 fee etc. The more information you can share, the better informed your audience will be this Thursday and the more likely they are to purchase a Rafiki to support our global initiative. Tonight boys and girls you are to review with your parents the goals you have set and want to achieve by the end of grade 6. Make sure your are specific with the strategies you are going to use to accomplish your goals. If you want to improve your math facts, how often will you practice and what games will you play? If you want to improve your writing skills, do you need to work on organizing your ideas into paragraphs, do you need a graphic organizer, do you need to develop your vocabulary, know how to properly use quotation marks for dialogue, etc.? Where will you go for support? The more specific you are, the greater the chances of achieving your goals! How will you make it a very visual reminder for yourself and others to help keep you on track? (Make a desk reminder?)
Remember to return the orange sheet that you received at student-led conferences with a signature so I know you have discussed the goals you want to achieve with your parents. Of course you will be adding much more detail on Friday when we input are goals onto IRIS (computer program) and make a visual representation of your goals in your visual journal. If you would like to make an announcement over the PA system on Friday to remind the students and staff that we will be continuing the Midnapore Muscles, "Eat the Rainbow" initiative about eating healthy snacks for the month of April, you are encouraged to come up with a clever little slogan or blurb and submit it to me tomorrow. Starting next week April 10- 13th, it will be orange and red snacks! We are working on our graphing skills in JUMP math. Pages 123 and 124 are due tomorrow. We will be having our auction this coming Friday for Classroom Economy. If you ave any items that you would like to sell, you are welcome to bring them in! Boys and girls, your job in the next couple of days is to do some research on the Me to We websites to learn about and discover the various Rafiki's available. Rafiki means friend in Swahili! We will be selling them to our Midnapore School community for our global initiative. When you find something of interest that inspires you, think abut how you can inspire others and make them aware of our global initiative to support girls, Canada, clean water, education, health, third world countries, etc. We want to support artisans so they can support their families! Try going to (shop.metowe.com/ca/we-are-rafikis) for information and to view the colorful and funky beadwork necklaces.
